  7. With ICS you can make your scans look like from the professionals.
  8. By  using  ICS  scan  quality  is  DRAMATICLY(!)  improved without
  9. requiring the user to manualy adjust scan colors while scanning.
  10.  
  11. This is the first release of ICS after nearly two years development.
  12. Support for ICC Profiles and more type of devices (printers,...)
  13. is planned for the next major release.
  14.  
  15. ICS already is directly supported by ScanQuix V4, ScanTrax V2.2.
  16. Other scanner drivers authors will soon add direct ICS support to
  17. their scanner drivers.  But ICS can also work independent of any
  18. specific scanner software using a stand-alone image file converter.

  20. ICS does work in 3 steps:
  21.  
  22.  - You do scan a calibration target with your scanner software
  23.    and use the incl. ScanTarget programm to create a profile
  24.    for your scanner.
  25.  
  26.  - You do select your monitor or standard (PAL, sRGB, NTSC,...)
  27.    you want to color correct the scan for.
  28.  
  29.  - Now all scans with your scanner software will be color corrected
  30.    automaticly.

  32. It's as easy as that...

  34. ICS supports standard IT 8.7 (ISO 12641) from Kodak, Agfa, Fuji,
  35. CorelDraw/PhotoPaint and "Epson Color Reference Chart V1.0"
  36. calibration targets.

  42. Changes since V1.01:
  43.  
  44. -  BUG:  The fix done for Kodak targets in ScanTarget V1.01 caused a crash when
  45.          saving profiles for Epson targets (endless recursive loop until crash...).
  46. -  Minor Bug:  Fixed ICSConvert/ICSScan problems with IFF images that are roughly
  47.          >30% larger than uncompressed causing the IFF loader to prompt
  48.          an error 48 because of buffer underrun.
  49.          (So far, the only program I know that seems to save such ugly files: Candy Factory Pro).
  50. -  Minor Bug: flag field in bitmap header saved by ICSConvert may contain a non-zero value.
  51.          Shouldn't cause troubles in this case. Anyway, now set to 0.
  52. -  Minor Bug: Error requester in ScanTarget showed wrong color names and order
  53.          (ie. "GS22 darker than GS21" instead of "GS21 darker than GS22").
  54. -  Added: RGB->Lab function during creation of LUT now uses more fixed integer math
  55.           wich should speed up creation of LUT especialy on non-FPU systems.
